The Stone Roses released their debut, self-titled album in 1989 on Silvertone Records. The British group had formed in Manchester six years prior. It took them a while to get off the ground, but with the release ofĀ The Stone Roses, they instantly became one of the most well-loved and exciting bands in the entire country. They had top ten hits, were playing on BBC'sĀ The Late Show, and began playing to thousands of people. Displeased with the support of their small independent label, they signed to Geffen and released one more album,Ā SecondĀ Coming, but broke up soon after, in 1994. While their output was small and their run short, they are still considered one of the best British bands of all time, thanks to their sense of melancholic melody and delicate guitar work.
