Oakland rapper MC Hammer released his smash hit "U Can't Touch This" in 1990. The song, a single from this third album Please Hammer, Don't Hurt Em, topped charts all across the world. The single itself went Gold and the record has since been certified Diamond, which means it sold more than 10 million copies in the US alone. The song, which sampled Rick James's "Superfreak," became a touchstone of 90s pop culture.
