Nu-metal band Korn formed in Bakersfield, CA in 1993. While mainstream music was aggressive and odd at that time, there was nothing quite like Korn on the scene — abrasive, vulgar, downtuned, and unwieldily guitar music with some rapping, all with memorable and catchy parts sprinkled in.
