Jack Kerouac was an American writer. A founder of the Beat Generation, Kerouac was known for such works asĀ ļ»æOn The Roadļ»æ,Ā ļ»æThe Dharma Bumsļ»æ,Ā ļ»æBig Surļ»æ, and many other works of fiction and poetry. His candid, jazz-inspiredĀ writing aboutĀ drug use and spirituality went on to be inspirational to American culture as a whole, but maybe most specifically to the hippie movements of the late 60s.Ā R. Crumb, on the other hand, is one of the most important comic artists. Crumb's folk-inspired, cross-hatched became the gold standardĀ of the 60s underground and countercultural comix. In 1985, Crumb released a small pamphlet entitledĀ Meet The Beats which featured portraitsĀ of many famous Beat writers, including, of course, Kerouac himself. This original promotional shirt for R. Crumb'sĀ Meet The Beats from 1985, in deadstock condition with a few spots from prolonged storage, features a great portrait of Jack Kerouac.Ā
