High On Fire, the legendary stoner metal band from Oakland, CA, released their debut album The Art Of Self Defense in 2000. The band formed right after the break up of guitarist/singer Matt Pike's previous band, Sleep. The record was released on Man's Ruin Records, a short-lived label ran by artist Frank Kozick. Since then, they've continued on regularly releasing new music and touring. But it all started back in those early days of the late 90s with those sweet, sweet sounds of stoner metal.
