Godzilla King Of The Monsters is a movie from 1956, an Americanized version of the Japanese film from two years prior by Toho Co. While it's a standard part of our cultural lexicon now, these Godzilla movies at the time were revolutionary. The movie did exceptionally well with rentals, making more than $2 million. This in turn created interest in the American cut of Godzilla and was further distributed around the world. While the Americans didn't invent Godzilla, they helped popularize the dinosaur monster who is still wowing audiences to this day.
