Georgia Tech was founded in 1855. The university was founded to provide engineering education in the South, starting out as a trade school and slowly evolving into a robust and massive institute of higher learning complete with, of course, offerings in STEM as well as colleges in liberal arts and business. And beyond being an elite and well-respected university, they are also home to the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets play Division I sports and are home to a championship football team, successful baseball and softball teams, and a winning golf team.
