Burning Spirits is used to describe a scene and a sound of Japanese hardcore bands. It refers to a group of bands that play fast, chaotic, and extremely aggressive punk-influenced hardcore and have been doing so for decades now. The name Burning Spirits actually refers to an annual Japanese tour of the same name that began in 1988. In 1994, the tour featured Cruck, Nightmare, and Deathside, a pairing of Japanese bands that had all been going for a decade each at that point. Death Side broke up the following year. This original Burning Spirits tour shirt, with natural sun fading on the shoulder areas, was from the 1994 edition.
