The band was formed in 1991 by singer Davey Havok and drummer Adam Carson and spent the entire decade playing Misfits-inspired music with Halloween imagery and catchy choruses. Mainstream audiences were ready for a band like that, polished with a kind-of creepy aesthetic, and the record went over great.
